Fockea natalensis is native to the dry regions of South Africa, especially the Natal and Transvaal provinces. The plant often grows in sandy or rocky soils and is able to survive extreme dry periods. It needs a lot of sunlight, preferably a sunny location outdoors or a bright, sunny spot indoors. The plant thrives at warm temperatures between 20°C and 30°C. In cold regions it should be protected from frost. As with most succulents, watering sparingly is important. Allow the top layer of soil to dry out completely between waterings. Use a well-draining succulent or cactus mix for growing Fockea natalensis. During the growing season in spring and summer you can fertilise the plant once a month with a diluted succulent fertiliser. Fockea natalensis can easily be propagated by cuttings or seeds. As it is a climbing plant, it needs a suitable climbing aid or scaffolding to work its way up.

Potted up in a self-mixed permeable organic substrate in a clay pot; repotting only desired in 3-4 years; cultivated for several years in my caudex plant collection; not overfertilised, therefore top healthy and robust (100% organic quality before quantity); already with a very nice thick caudex.
Fockea multiflora is a fascinating plant that, with the right care and attention, can become a remarkable addition to your succulent collection.
